Introduction

Welcome to the first player guide for a Quadrill game. Quadrill began in early January 2002 and quickly became addicting. So far it has grown to a four version game. The fourth version is still being worked on. Quadrill 3 offers a more recent version with larger maps and more special effects. Those who are fortunate enough get to see the whole game, and that's the purpose of this page. Have fun with Q3!

Tiles

There, you see cliffs. You cannot step on a tile with a cliff on it. You have to walk up the center that you see there.
These are trees. You cannot walk on a tile with a tree on it.
This is water, and you cannot walk on a water tile either, unless you have a Raft.
What a house looks like. Of course, you cannot walk through the house walls, but you can walk on the inside tiles. To open a door, stand so that you are facing the closed door, and then press O. Do the same for an open door. You cannot walk on the Wall tiles also.
The tile with the arrow on it is an arrow tile. You cannot step onto the arrow tile if it is pointing at you.
You can walk on soil. Notice that you cannot walk on the wall tiles, and you cannot walk to the right through the arrow tile.
You can walk on tiles that have thin walls on them, but you cannot move in a direction that goes through one of these thin walls.
When you step onto the teleport, you will automatically be moved to the other teleport of the matching color.
When you step onto a tile with a bomb on it, the bomb will explode and all of the tiles that are surrounding the bomb will be destroyed.
If you walk onto a tile with a sign on it, you will be able to read the contents of the sign. If you walk onto a tile with a chest on it, you will receive the contents of the chest. Some chests contain useful tools or items, while others contain points.
You cannot walk on the raised gate tile (left), but you can walk on the lowered gate tile (right). Furthermore, if you step on the switch with the matching color, the gate tiles switch: and you can pass through the path that once was blocked by raised gate tiles. The lowered gates have been raised as well.
The gray tiles that look like gate tiles switch periodically. If you get onto a raised switching gate tile, you will be pushed back in the opposite direction, even if the gate is raised while you are on it.
When you step onto a blue numeral tile, the number goes down by 1. If it reaches zero, then it turns into a water tile that you cannot walk across unless you have a Raft.
If you step onto an ice tile, you will start moving forward and cannot stop until you run into a wall or land on a tile that is not an ice tile.
If you step on a mudslide tile, then you will continuously slip down one tile.
If you step onto a conveyor belt tile, then you will move in the direction that the conveyor belt arrows are pointing.
If you step on a right turn tile, you will automatically take a right turn, which means you will move to the tile to the right of the right turn tile.
If you have the Raft, you can step on water tiles. The Rapids tiles are also water tiles, but they will move you in a motion similar to the conveyor belts: in the direction of the arrow that appears on them.
If you step onto a hole, you will be killed. When you are killed, you will return to your last save, if you have more tries left.
The same thing applies to fire tiles, except that fire tiles spread fire onto adjacent tiles and will kill you if you are in the tile that it spreads upon. You can also put out a fire by throwing the Extinguisher with J.
You cannot walk onto cracked wall tiles, but you can break them down if you have a Shock Wave by shooting one at the wall. Press K to throw the Shock Wave.
The Ski Lift travels back and forth. If you can step on the ski lift, you can ride it until you want to get off. This is useful for getting up cliffs, across waters, and across large holes or chasms.
The Restrict tile (recognizable by the large R on it) takes your Raft, Jump Boots, Extinguisher, Shock Wave, Napalm, and Freeze Beam.
The Mirror Tile reflects any waves that thrown at it. The wave then returns in the opposite direction toward where it came from. These kinds of mirrors are dangerous when you are using attack waves such as the Shock Wave, Freeze Beam, and Napalm.
The Curved Mirror Tile turns the traveling wave's direction to its right.

Red Key, Green Key, Blue Key - use these to open locked doors.
SFlag - if you get twelve of these to the SFlag Shrine, then you have completed the game.
Extinguisher - press J to throw this when you get one. This is used to put out fires.
Shock Wave - press K to throw this. This is useful for taking out enemies and breaking down cracked walls.
Napalm - press M to throw this, which is useful for burning things up. Use with Extinguisher to get through buildings.
FreezeBeam - press I to throw this. The FreezeBeam can be used to freeze over dangerous floor tiles and to turn lakes into concrete.

Also, there are four hidden flags in Q3.

Location: Initializa Plains

Initializa Plains - a decent area of plains where temperatures remain at about 80-90 degrees F in the summer and 40-50 degrees F in the winter.
The only attraction in the Initializa Plains is the training zone to the east. When you are ready to begin the real stuff, head north and find the warpstone in the big plains.
