Found this thread: http://www.xtremevbtalk.com/showthread.php?t=186147 (but it was already to old to post in it (I\'m trying to ween myself from XVBT addiction by only going there once a month). ...and Just wanted to say Quadrill DESERVES a .Net implementation...a map editor for JumpCross would also be nice. Are you eventually going to update your site\'s .Net 2003 stuff for 2005 (or at least provide both versions instead of making everyone doing the conversions manually themselves after downloading)--just wondering... Glad to see your site is back up. Hope you also find time to post a \"Collision Detection and Overlaps\" Code Library in the .NBet Code Library of XVBT to update your VB6 \"collsions and overlaps thread\" for VB.Net 2005: http://www.xtremevbtalk.com/showthread.php?t=186147

I tried downloading (saving) several of your valuable .Net tutorial pages...are you aware that they all try to save as \"Terminology\" because of the html header info (probably a default setting in a FrontPage template): <head> <meta http-equiv=\"Content-Language\" content=\"en-us\"> <meta name=\"GENERATOR\" content=\"Microsoft FrontPage 4.0\"> <meta name=\"ProgId\" content=\"FrontPage.Editor.Document\"> <meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; charset=windows-1252\"> <title>Terminology</title> ***different for various pages..? </head>
Iceplug
It\'s interesting that you mention that about Quadrill having a .NET implementation. As you already know, the new equivalent to DirectX is going to be (I think) XNA, which only works in C# (I hope it would have worked in VB.NET, but I\'m not the one who works Microsoft). So, to follow the new graphics technology, I\'d have to use C# in order to use XNA... which sucks, as I\'d have to start giving examples in C# (I feel dirty going to C#, but if all the cool kids are doing it, I guess I have to too) :P. I *could* do it in VB.NET with GDI+, but I don\'t know how well that would go. I don\'t think GDI+ likes fullscreen. I could make it windowed, but it would be really small. If I did make a Quadrill for .NET, it\'d probably be a windowed GDI+ version. I have been thinking about going over to .NET 2005. I\'ll probably get this with a new computer that I can also record MIDI files on. For JumpCross map editors, I think I have one hardcoded in the actual game. I forgot what key activates the editor... for some crazy reason, I\'m thinking that \'1\' activates the editor. Collision Detection for .NET sounds like a good idea. Yes, all of the pages have stemmed from one FrontPage file I made over 3 years ago and I just changed the title on a few. I took the file and edited it in Notepad. Since it\'s windowed on the actual website, I never see the title of the page. :) But, yes, you caught my laziness.

The Master
Hi, just thought i would stop by. Ive been reading the quotes page. The bit about the commandos is halerious. The Macarena thing is good but when you put \"in memory of the Thinker\" do you mean because he doesnt post anymore or did something happen to him?
Iceplug
He doesn\'t post anymore (actually for quite a few years now)
SFlag
Hey, very nice site. Especially Quadrill (Love that game). I really like the music you make too. Which program do you use?
Iceplug
I use WinJammer to make my MIDI files... since I play the piano pretty decently, I record most in real-time and it takes little time to make a song that\'s decent IMHO.
SFlag
I try to make music for my games but it never works out. I just don\'t have music talent I suppose. I tried Anvil Studio but that didn\'t work either.
Iceplug
Well, I guess if you don\'t have sufficient time to pick it up to a level where you\'d like it to be, you can always download :).
SFlag
Did you learn your talent over time, or did the music just come to you? I could probably learn how to make a decent song if I put a lot of time into it, but I\'d rather invest that time into the actual programming. I have something against downloading.... I guess it doesn\'t give me a sense of completion if I use someone else\'s work.
Iceplug
I have been playing the keyboard for almost 20 years, but I didn\'t pick up composition in MIDI until about 9 years ago, almost when I started programming. Remember that hard work will show rewards - that holds true for my drawing because, when I\'m making a game, that\'s usually where a lot of the time gets spent... that and the actual level design.

Mar 2 2009, 10:09 (Sigh) Don\'t you wish you were just an illegal alien? It\'s easier for them to get a DL....
SFlag
Is Blocks really both vb6 and vb .net? All I see in the folder is vb .net. Is there any way I can get the vb6 version?
Iceplug
SFlag: \"Blocks\" was initially developed in VB6, but I never released it because it consisted of 102 forms. \"Blockserv\" is essentially the same as Blocks VB6, but without enemies. I haven\'t even looked at VB6 Blocks in the last three years, and I\'m not even sure that it works anymore. BedRock: It\'s easier for them to get a download? :-/? Or does DL stand for something else?
SFlag
Oh wow. I see why you wouldn\'t post that. Thanks anyway. I\'ll check out the .Net version.
Iceplug
The same is true for Power I which has around 40 forms. I may remake this game sometime in the future, but definitely will not be starting development this year.
SFlag
\"Power\" again? It seems to me like that game is cursed for you. :)
Iceplug
Well, Power 4 is still coming nicely :) - I\'m just working on the Platform Tour for right now.

*shrug* maybe if you searched on eBay or Amazon?
SFlag
Oh, I prefer Amazon for my all my unicorn purchases. You can get a nice pure bred for only around $199,995. I\'ve found eBay too unreliable; the last unicorn I bought from there didn\'t even have a horn! The nerve of some people....
Iceplug
Perhaps you also need to be a member of PETA before you can own a unicorn...

Hey there. I discovered your website by way of Google while searching for a related subject, your website came up. It seems to be great. I\'ve bookmarked it in my google bookmarks to visit later.

Naturally I like your web site, however you have to test the spelling on several of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it very silly to tell you. Nevertheless I’ll definitely come back again!

lol... ironic, because I do not have *spelling* issues.

Nice website, the tutorials are very useful; a question though, I\'m trying out the \'Tile Maps: An analytical approach\' tutorial; the tilemap is setup fine with the character, but when i press the keys to make him move, he\'ll move in the proper direction but the old image will stay, so eventually the whole map is filled with the character image any idea why the sprite isn\'t being drawn correctly?
Iceplug
When you add the movement code, you have to add it into the clock tick with the code that draws the map. If you do not draw the map, the map will not update. If you draw the map after you draw the character, you won\'t see the character. So, what you should have in clock_tick is: (code to move character) -> (code to draw map) -> (code to draw character)
